KPV

Also cited in the literature as Lys-Pro-Val

A three-amino-acid fragment of a natural hormone. Published research on inflammation is in cells and rodents only.

Regulatory status: Not licensed as a medicine in the United Kingdom. It holds no MHRA marketing authorisation, has no approved indication, and is not approved for human or animal use.

What it is

KPV is the last three amino acids of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, a signalling molecule the body already makes.

How researchers think it works

Cell studies reported that it reduced the activity of inflammatory signalling pathways, including NF-kB, and papers discussed uptake by a transporter found in gut lining cells.

What has research seen in people?

There is no published human trial. The research is cell cultures and rodent models of gut and skin inflammation.

In those animal studies researchers reported less tissue damage and lower inflammatory markers than in untreated animals.

Rodent inflammation models often fail to predict human results, so nothing is established in people.

Where this material is listed

For laboratory research use only. Not a medicine and not for human or animal use.

Veritide does not sell or supply anything. This links to a third-party UK laboratory supplier; we may earn a commission if you buy through it, at no extra cost to you. Materials are sold for laboratory research use only and are not licensed medicines.

What studies have found

  • Published research used cell cultures and rodent models of colitis and skin inflammation, where researchers reported less tissue damage and lower inflammatory markers than in untreated animals.
  • No completed human trial had been published at the time of writing.

What we still do not know

  • All meaningful findings are pre-clinical, and rodent inflammation models often fail to predict human results.
  • Nothing about effects or safety in people is established.
