GHRP-6

One of the earliest growth-hormone-releasing peptides studied. Human work stayed at the level of short hormone-response experiments.

Regulatory status: Not licensed as a medicine in the United Kingdom. It holds no MHRA marketing authorisation, has no approved indication, and is not approved for human or animal use.

What it is

GHRP-6 is a laboratory-made peptide of six amino acids, developed in the 1980s during research into how the body controls growth hormone.

How researchers think it works

Studies found that it acted at the ghrelin receptor. That receptor is involved both in growth hormone release and in appetite signalling.

What has research seen in people?

Early human experiments reported rises in growth hormone, along with noticeably increased reported hunger.

The work was used to map how the ghrelin system works. No medicine came out of it.

There is no long-term human safety data.

Where this material is listed

For laboratory research use only. Not a medicine and not for human or animal use.

Veritide does not sell or supply anything. This links to a third-party UK laboratory supplier; we may earn a commission if you buy through it, at no extra cost to you. Materials are sold for laboratory research use only and are not licensed medicines.

What studies have found

  • Published human experiments reported rises in growth hormone after it was given, and researchers also recorded increased reported hunger.
  • The work was largely used to map how the ghrelin system worked. No medicine based on it was approved.

What we still do not know

  • There are no completed late-phase human trials and no long-term safety data.
  • Researchers reported effects on other hormones, including cortisol and prolactin.

A small peptide that triggers growth hormone release. In Japan it was approved as a diagnostic test rather than a treatment.

Retatrutide

Triple incretin receptor agonist

An experimental peptide that acts on three hormone receptors. Researchers studied it in phase 2 trials involving weight and blood sugar.

Mazdutide

Dual GLP-1 / glucagon receptor agonist

An experimental peptide based on a natural gut hormone. Researchers studied it mainly in phase 2 and phase 3 trials in China.
